NewsBonde Do Role forced out of Great Escape at last minuteBonde Do Role were forced to cancel their performance on the final night (May 19) of The Great Escape festival at the last minute. The Brazilian band were due on stage at Club NME which was taking place at the Komedia venue. However, just moments they were due to take the stage, MC Pedro D'Eyrot appeared to apologise to the crowd. "We can't play due to a technical difficulty," he said, obviously dissapointed. However the problems did not affect Manchester newcomers The Answering Machine who played earlier, providing a raucous climax to Club NME at the festival. The three-piece whipped the crowd into a frenzy, as large numbers of them invaded the stage as the band during 'Your Home Address'. "We're having a great time," declared frontman Martin Colclough. "I'm really glad you could make it out." The Answering Machine played: 'Oklahoma' 'The Hold Up' 'It's Over' 'Oh Christina' 'Lightbulbs' 'Another Cisty, Another Sorrie' 'Tomorrow' 'Your Home Address' 'Silent Hotels' To revlive the Great Escape and check out the bands you might have missed, go to our special festival blog now. White Rabbits headline Club NME LA White Rabbits performed with three drummers at Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture last night (June 13). Playing several songs from their recent debut album, 'Fort Nightly', the clean-cut New Yorkers got Club NME-goers hopping with their complex dance-rock reminiscent of !!! and The Walkmen. "We are thrilled we made it here in one piece -- the van broke down just 200 miles outside of LA, but the stars aligned and we made it," said drummer Jamie Adam Levinson. The six-piece band ended their set with a rousing rendition of Bob Dylan's 'Maggie's Farm' that segued into their own song, 'Kid On My Shoulders'. Club NME with Fred Perry takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night. Next Wednesday (June 20), The New Year and David Bazan are set to headline Club NME LA with Fred Perry Subculture. |
